Sónia Melo
Sónia Melo is an Affiliate Professor at FMUP and Principal Researcher at i3S. Her expertise is in exosomes biology, pancreatic cancer and genetically engineered mouse models of disease (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2291-4263). She trained at Harvard Medical School and MDACC, and identified the potential of EVs for clinical application as early detection biomarkers of pancreatic cancer, and RNAi vehicles for pancreatic cancer treatment. Her team works on the in vivo modeling of cancer EVs, and their potential as novel therapeutic targets in pancreatic cancer.
